Welcome to Winford Pond Farm! We moved here
after my husband retired from 25 years service
in the Army. We are originally from Oregon, but
fell in love with NC, and made it our new home.
I am a member of AGA, ADGA, The American Livestock
Breeds Conservancy, The American Poultry
Association, and The American Buckeye Club.
While I have not shown any of my birds yet, I
have poultry from some of the best breeders in
the country.
My Buckeye chickens come from Pathfinders Farm/Laura
Haggerty, Jaime Duckworth (both of whom took
part in the original ALBC Buckeye program) and
Hall Family Farm. I have Sussex chickens in
light, coronation, and silver. I have Orpingtons
in blue, and lavender. One of my newest projects
have been the Transylvania Naked Necks, and I
hope to have hatching eggs for sale next year. I
also have Cotton Patch geese. I obtained my
original flock from Dr. Tom Walker, the man
credited with saving the breed. I am working on
White Midget turkeys, as well.
All of my poultry are heritage breeds, and some, like
the Buckeye and the Cotton Patch, are critically
endangered. I am very proud to be part of the
effort to help save these breeds.
Jason and I started the farm to become a little more
self-sufficiant. We love this area, love being
in the country, and love all of our trees.
Between the farm, and jobs, we like to hike and
garden, and work with the animals. I
particularly love growing herbs, and am working
on becoming a certified herbalist. |
